About Us
The Bihar Orthopaedic Association was established in 1966 in Patna, has been a pioneering force in orthopaedic care in the region. Led by former President Prof. Dr. B. Mukhopadhaya and Secretary Dr. R.P. Singh. BOA was formally registered under the Society Registration Act 21, 1860 under the guidance of President Dr. S.K. Roy and Honorary Secretary Dr. H.S.S. Singh. The association operates with a commitment to professionalism and ethical standards, as evidenced by its registration number 331/1981-82.
It is a constantly growing organization not only in terms of increasing memberships but also in all other fronts like fellowships, CMEs, orations and sub-specialty meetings. The annual conference of the organization BOACON, is one of the well-organized. The history, birth and development of the Bihar Orthopaedic Association is very similar to that of the Indian Orthopaedic Association.
Nestled within the prestigious IMA premises at South East Gandhi Maidan, Patna, our association’s office serves as a hub for collaboration, education, and professional development for our 877 esteemed members.
In 2018, a significant milestone was achieved with the indexing of the Journal of Orthopaedic Diseases and Traumatology, the official publication of the Bihar Orthopaedic Association. Under the leadership of Secretary Dr. Rajeev Anand and Editor Dr. Bhuwan Kumar Singh, this achievement underscores our commitment to disseminating cutting-edge orthopaedic research and knowledge.
In a momentous celebration of its legacy, the association recently organized its 50th Annual (Golden Jubilee) Conference at Rajgir International Convention Centre from 9th to 11th February 2024. This landmark event, organized by the Nalanda Orthopaedic Club with Dr. Arun Kumar as the organizing secretary, provided a platform for reflection, collaboration, and advancement in orthopaedic practice for the benefit of patients in Bihar and beyond.
